Tim’s Two Cents – Skoglin Real Estate 2015 Review

Sales activity in the county is strong in a typically slower month of the year for real estate sale, December! Kristine and I have been busy opening doors , writing offers and preparing some great properties (located in 4S Ranch, Del Sur, Poway, Eucalyptus Hills & Stonecrest Village…if interested personally or if you know someone who is contact us) that we will bring to market in 2016!  We are busy managing 5 closings this month.  Inventory continues to remain low and interest rates have remained level.  Oil, and therefore gas prices, has remained low and should contribute to some extra discretionary income in consumer’s pockets this Holiday Season which in turn should spur Holiday consumer spending benefiting our economy!

As I look back and reflect on 2015, I depart into 2016 with a lot of great memories.  We look to finish the year with 37 properties sold and a total sales volume of $27 million.  Most of our business came from referral and repeat clients from past transactions. I was nominated for “Best in Customer Satisfaction” for the 9th consecutive year in a row.  The announcement will appear in the March edition of San Diego Magazine.  This award is solely based on consumer and industry professional survey input.  The survey company let me know that I am one of less than 20 brokers that has received the award every year in San Diego County since they started in 2008.  With 17,000 active licensees in the county I am very proud and humbled to be recognized in this fashion, but saddened that only 19 others can say the same.   Shouldn’t customer care be the easy part to excel in as a part of a sales & service based industry?

I am thankful for the great people around me that help me to provide the highest level of service possible day in and day out.  Holly at Centennial Escrow, Ryan, Jeff & Beth at Title365, Jason, Vicky, Joe & Craig my loan specialists, my home inspectors, termite contractors, plumbers, roofers, electricians, mold remediation specialist, carpet cleaning & flooring specialists, contractors & handy men and all the others that play important roles in helping us with their specific areas of expertise!

This year we also had a very important transition in our immediate office.  Kristine and I went through the always dreaded task of hitting the streets in search of a new administrative assistant/office manager.  After a very patient search, we were very fortunate to hire Ryan Brodmann.  Ryan has picked up the position requirements quickly and really helped to accomplish projects that we have been wanting to complete for some time while getting to know our clientele.  Our web site has never looked better, systems for our marketing, this newsletter and an ability to get the best out of Kristine and me as we produced some great videos highlighting listings for sale, who we are and offering some insight into our industry and how it works are just some of what he has contributed! We are looking forward to continuing to assist him with advancement in his career and learning the finer points of our industry in the years ahead.

We were lucky enough to host about 150 of my close to 750 lifelong clients to a 20th Year Client Appreciation Event at the Santaluz Club.  It was an elegant evening in late October celebrating some of those that have been major contributors to my abundant career started in October of 1995!  We plan to have similar style events this year.  So, if we missed you, keep an eye out for an invite in 2016!

Finally, as I reflect on this year I am most happy and proud of the balance in my life.  The love that I share with Kristine is like that which I never imagined possible.  The cherished time with Blake and Lolly is irreplaceable and my top priority.  Breakfast in the morning together, school drop off every day, reading books at night, sports with Blake, dance and art with Lolly, teaching them both all kinds of things, our morning Walk to School Wednesdays together, trips to the beach, the playground and parks…are all the reasons that I get up excited for each new day.  A few cool accomplishments with my golf game and time to get morning workouts in where the frosting on top of the cake this year! These facets of my life help me recognize that we are extremely Blessed to have our health and to live in, what is still, the greatest country in the world, The United States of America!

In conclusion, the Skoglin family will be celebrating a Joyous Christmas and waving goodbye to a wonderful 2015 while ringing in all the anticipation for a New Year, 2016.  We wish you All the Best in 2016, a great time with family and friends during the Holidays that you share and celebrate and as I conclude my videos each time, “We look forward to the opportunity to help you buy or sell your piece of America’s Finest City!
